1821 - 1872
"Many writer's of this period in California history bear testimony to the great generosity and hospitality shown by the Californians to stranger and friend alike. From the earliest days when fortunes were meager, to the more affluent days of the great ranchos, Californians offered their guests every comfort with true Castilian courtesy."

Lucile K. Czarnowski
